At K-Zone, I create dynamic, kid-focused editorial content for one of Australia’s leading children’s magazines. My role includes designing engaging layouts, developing fun and on-brand illustrations, and collaborating closely with editorial and marketing teams to bring pop culture, education, and entertainment features to life. I also contribute to cover designs, promotional assets, and conceptual art direction for recurring segments like Ideas Lab. My goal is always to strike a balance between clarity, creativity, and humour, capturing the attention and imagination of young readers.
Covers created for the May/June & July issues of K-Zone.
These covers were designed with an emphasis on dynamic movement, bold shapes, and visual clarity. The May/June issue (left) uses patterns and crisp graphic divisions to structure the composition in a clean, engaging way. In contrast, the July issue (right) features an ensemble cast bursting from the page, creating a lively, celebratory approach that reinforces the milestone theme of K-Zone’s 300th issue.
My combined skills in graphic design and illustration played a key role in creating cohesive, engaging visuals tailored to the K-Zone audience.
Below: an assortment of pages from the magazines, ranging from upcoming movies and TV shows to games and activities. The 'How to Draw Grogu' spread is a personal favourite, as it allowed me to combine my illustration and teaching skills to create an engaging, step-by-step drawing guide for readers.
A promotional K-Zone sticker that I fully illustrated and designed for the 300th Issue.
